The not so picky eater

So I have this child. He so stinkin' cute and we know it. Therefore, his dad and I are constantly taking pictures. While sorting through over 1,200 pictures (all from last month) I noticed that Gavin eats anything. He's not picky, so that's good. The problem is, well, lemme show ya...

Well, he's still alive so he must be gettin something outta all this.
Good for you buddy!

An exciting week

This past week has been quite an exciting one.
So let's gather around and I shall tell my story the best way I know how.
With a few words a tons of cute pictures of my family.

First, Gavin made a new friend. It's a dog. It's a fun learning tool/toy. It's creepy when you trip over it at 3 am and it says, "Peek-a-boo, I see you!"
But he loves it so now we have a new member of the family.

Gavin got a sweet action hat!
and it holds his "sucky" so that's double sweet action!
Yet somehow very surprising exactly how awesome it is

Now, moving on...
G-pa and G-ma Johnson came to CO to see Gavin
And once G-pa got a hold of him I didn't see him for a whole week...
I would like to point out the family resemblance
(mostly around the hair area)

While they were here we took a trip to Red Rocks and took a few family pictures.
We were going for "The Lion King" look in this one...
But Dustin thought it was the "cheesy inspirational face" picture.
Christmas card ruined!

Anyway...

It was then time for my mom to come see us!!
And Gavin got his first Easter bunny (flopsey)
Mom came for a very short time to attend Katelyn's bridal shower.
I felt so lucky to spend time with my mama even though it was a short time.

While mom was here Gavin got to experience the highly anticipated...

Baby cereal!!!

Aside from getting it in his eye
(at which point I panicked because how awful would "blinded by cereal" be?!)
He did a great job!

This is the beginning of something wonderful!

At the end of this crazy busy week it was nice to finally get a chance to relax. By relax I mean, hanging out while Dustin put together the patio furniture we would eventually relax on.
We are definitely looking forward to next week cause we're headed to the Rockies game

Stay tuned! :)

2012 thus far...

Ok so I do realize that I have not posted anything for quite sometime. Sorry. I know this is what you really look for when you find yourself in cyberspace and have run out things to do. So let's getcha all caught up so you might know exactly how awesome my life is right now.  K? K.

January. So Christmas eve I found out I no longer had a job to go back to after having my little guy. Awesome. So this month was filled with lots and lots of job hunting.

February. I got a job! I now work at Starbucks. Yes. I have wanted to work here for such a long time. I knew I would save money on coffee while making more money. It's a win-win really. Although this does mean that I have to wake up almost every morning at 3am thus forcing me to be a morning person. For those of you that know me know I had a hard time getting up at 7 for school...
My first week there was also the same week Dustin's mom came to town. This was my first time meeting Dustins mom! Big deal. Nice lady. We went to Blackhawk and I learned how to play roulette. I won $9. Yup. I'm a pro.

March.
Now this is a big one for us!

WE ROLLED OVER!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. He's movin' up in the world. Now he can roll to the store for me when needed. Super helpful.
Also, Neal and Camille came out to visit! We love when they come visit because they are so awesome and helpful. Camille is super at giving advice! Cooking, decorating, make-up removal, you name it! Neal is amazing because he's the reason we got our beautiful couches delivered when they told us there was no way they would fit! :) Gavin loves them because they are his super fun god-parents and they are going to give him a super fun cousin to play with! So yeah. They are kinda a big deal.
We also went to Winter Park and Dustin got to ride for the first time this season. But I was not feeling too well that week. Lame, I know.
Oh yeah and that brings me to one more, or two things. We got a new place in Lakewood. We got new furniture to put in it so that's cool. And Gavin got a new toy that he thinks is the bees knees.
Yup. Bees Knees.

So all in all this little family is keeping busy with work and getting ready for this coming summer. Gavin can't wait to try out the pool, go for a hike and just enjoy this beautiful state!

'Twas the week before Christmas

'Twas the week before Christmas
And Mom was quite stressed,
It was amazing at times
if she even got dressed.

The decorations were everywhere
just after Thanksgiving,
Even Gavin was done up
not doing much but sitting.

The cat would just lay in moms way
knowing a some point she'd trip,
So mom decided to step on her
pretending like it was a slip.

All the time with this cat
and everywhere with the hair,
Then Gavin decided
that she's his new chair.

At last it was picture time
to send to all our friends,
Little kisses and hugs
is what Gavin sends.

Of getting everything done
chances were slim.
Gavin barely had time
to play in his gym.

Christmas morning came quick
and it was so fun,
This is my favorite
opening gifts with my son.

Our little family had fun
for Gavin's Christmas of first,
Now it's time for his parents
to quinch their thirst!

Cheers to 2012!!!

"Mother threatens to eat helpless infants toes"

DENVER, CO—While family members stood silently by and did nothing, mother Corinna Johnson proclaimed her desire to consume the "tiny little toesies" of her son Gavin, a powerless infant less than one-fifth her size, after the child's christening Sunday. "Who's my little sugar pie? I could just eat you right up," Johnson threatened as she held the vulnerable child above her cavernous mouth and simulated the impending act of cannibalism on his tiny, dangling legs. "I've gotcha! I've gotcha! Yes I do! Yes I do!" Johnson then returned the confused and speechless newborn to the bouncy seat, prodded his abdomen, and disappeared behind her own hands.-theonion.com

From powder days to poopy diapers

There is this magical time of the year in Colorado. Outsiders just call it winter, we call it ski season.
Now ski season seems to be what Coloradans wait out the 2 no snow months for. Also, the same reason we will wait over an hour to catch A-basin on opening day. We are the people who will glare at the person who is loving this "unseasonably" warm weather, we will tell you to move to Florida if you actually like that kind of weather.
Yes. I am that person.
Well, I used to be.

I lived up in Summit County Colorado for a while. This is one of the ultimate party places in Colorado. When people think of partying hard in Colorado they think of Boulder.
Nope. Not true.
This is the only place where you would be seen on the dance floor with your snow pants on and your board waiting for you at the door.
If you weren't we knew you were just visiting on your parents' dime.
And we didn't like you.
That was me then but let me tell you about now.

It seems like everyone my age wants to live that party lifestyle. I didn't.
After moving to Denver in search of something new I found that it's all the same. Then I got pregnant and discovered a whole new world.
(Que Disney song)
After the most painful eighteen hours of my life I looked into the eyes of this amazing little boy that I knew completely and not at all. I know. Weird.
I knew that he would depend on me. To protect, love, comfort, teach, and feed.
I look at this little creation and wonder how anyone can ever think a bad thing of a child... When I hold my child he looks at me as though I am the best thing in this world. He's so innocent and vulnerable. When he cries I cry with him.
But then I quickly pick him up to comfort him because me crying is not at all helpful to him.

For now I get to stay home with him until I got back to my part time job. These feel like they are the shortest of days and go by too quickly. I wish sometimes that time would stand still for the sake of me just staring at this child. I spend my days doing laundry, cooking, cleaning and watching my little man talk to his zebra.

And I couldn't be happier.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving means Christmas is just around the corner. Which is awesome. I love Christmas because it's the only holiday that has it's own music, an entire season devoted to it,  cookies shaped like fat men, drinks that contain raw eggs, and lets not forget the snow!!! Lots and lots of snow!!! Oh wait, what? What do you mean no snow? I live in Colorado!!!
Ok so let's forget the snow...
Let's go back to Thanksgiving then.

First, there was the Packers vs. Lions game
Gavin was a huge fan. I think.

After the game everyone headed over to Camilles parents house for some great food and more football. This is where Gavin got to meet his Godparents, but found he was more interested in sleeping.
  Definitely HUGE fan of sleeping...

Later on Mike, Mallory and their 2 kids came up to visit and hang out for a bit. It was so much fun to visit with them and their oldest, Ethan loved playing the Legos Batman game...
...and so did Neal

and yes. He is trying to prove to his wife what a great father he will someday make.

We will skip over the part where both grown men have controllers and poor Ethan does not...
I know, right?!

All this turkey, football, family and friends have brought is to this one moment. This one place where all things seem to end up at one point or another...
Starbucks.
